Important pharmacy discount change in 2025

Starting in 2025, the pharmacy discount for a 90-day supply will be limited to mail order rather than retail for standard plans. This will be a change for most members when they renew their plans in 2025. In response, we will be emailing our members this week to share tips on saving money on medications. The email will include the following suggestions for members:

1. Consider using our convenient mail order program for 90-day supplies of maintenance medications. When you use mail order, you can save up to one month of cost sharing. Visit your secure member portal to get started with Optum Home Delivery. 

Important: For most plans, the mail order program will be the only way to get a discount on 90-day supply of maintenance medications once coverage renews in 2025. While you will continue to be able to get a 90-day supply of medications at participating retail pharmacies, the discount may not apply. 

2. Activate your Rx Savings Solutions (RxSS) account also through your member portal. Mass General Brigham Health Plan works with RxSS to help save money by analyzing your prescription coverage and providing cost-saving medication alternatives. This tool is linked to your specific benefit plan and customizes prescription savings just for you.

3. Take advantage of your over-the-counter drug benefit. Pay nothing, or only your plan’s cost sharing, for many routine over-the-counter drugs with a prescription.

Medicare Advantage plan availability expanded to Dukes, Nantucket counties

Mass General Brigham Health Plan announced its Medicare Advantage plans will be available to Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and all of Dukes County residents starting January 1, 2025. As part of a comprehensive approach to support access to critical healthcare services, Mass General Brigham Health Plan is also introducing a new transportation allowance on its 2025 Medicare Advantage plans for non-emergency transportation for medical visits, including taxis, rideshares, and public transportation.
