June is Pride Month and it is an opportunity for employers and individuals to celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) communities. Although progress has been made, people in the LGBTQIA+ community still face inequities. At Mass General Brigham Health Plan, we know individual awareness can lead to more education and acceptance. During this month, we honor the past while recognizing there is more work to do to ensure a safer, more inclusive future.

Mass General Brigham received a five-star rating in the large-size company category from Newsweek in the 2024 America’s Greatest Workplaces for LGBTQ+ rankings. Our organization values our LGBTQ+ employees for their diverse perspectives and contributions, and we are committed to fostering a more equitable and thriving workplace for all. On June 8, members of the Mass General Brigham LGBTQ+ and Allies Resource Group marched in the 2024 Boston Pride Parade.
Lyra Health is a platform that many Mass General Brigham Health Plan members have access to, connecting them with a range of mental health support and resources. Members can schedule virtual or in-person appointments with therapists, health coaches, or others, often within 1-3 days. According to Lyra, 88% of individuals who have utilized the service have reported experiencing improvement or recovery.
For eligible members, Lyra is also available for enrolled family members, including children and adolescents. Lyra is included with fully insured plans and available to self‐funded groups at an additional cost. Members can easily connect with a mental health professional or access mindfulness and self-care resources at https://mgbhealthplan.lyrahealth.com/
Last month, Mass General Brigham Health Plan volunteered at Community Servings, a local organization that offers 15 medical diets designed to help people improve their health through nutritionally appropriate food scratch-made from wholesome ingredients. Annually, they make and home-deliver about a million meals to thousands of families impacted by critical or chronic illness.
One hundred percent of the meals go to those experiencing one or more critical or chronic illnesses. Many are experiencing poverty and managing multiple illnesses. Learn more by visiting servings.org
