November 18, 2024 (SOMERVILLE, MA) – Mass General Brigham Health Plan announced its Medicare Advantage plans will be available to Nantucket residents starting January 1, 2025. This is the first time Medicare Advantage plans with prescription drug coverage will be offered to Medicare-eligible Nantucket residents, which will create more choice and expand access to affordable, convenient coverage options.
As part of a comprehensive approach to support access to critical healthcare services, Mass General Brigham Health Plan is also introducing a new transportation allowance on its 2025 Medicare Advantage plans for non-emergency transportation for medical visits, including taxis, rideshares, and public transportation.
These benefits complement the high quality of care and services offered by local providers and community-based organizations. Through Mass General Brigham Health Plan’s comprehensive coverage, Medicare Advantage members have access to a network of doctors, hospitals, and world-class regional care.
“At Nantucket Cottage Hospital, we are committed to providing high-quality care and comprehensive health and wellness services for our island community,” said Amy Lee, President at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. “We look forward to expanding care and coverage options for our patients through the Medicare Advantage plans offered by Mass General Brigham Health Plan.”
Mass General Brigham Health Plan’s Medicare Advantage plans provide a variety of benefits that address common consumer health needs, such as dental, vision, hearing, and virtual care options for urgent and non-urgent services. Members also receive a Flexible Benefit Card that can be used for qualifying health and wellness needs, such as prescription hearing aids, fitness and weight-loss programs, meal delivery, over-the-counter medications and supplies, and a new transportation allowance.
“We are incredibly pleased to expand our Medicare Advantage offerings to support a broader range of populations to access the exceptional care delivered by local providers like Nantucket Cottage Hospital,” said Steve Tringale, President, Mass General Brigham Health Plan. “As part of an integrated healthcare system, we can support community-focused care through solutions that address social determinants of health and support members at all stages of life.”
